The Mid-Century Modernist

Stephen Coles aka Stewf, a longtime Flickr friend and typeface fiend, recently launched a beautiful redesign of his blog, The Mid-Century Modernist. Lots of eye candy for us MCM enthusiasts, and a nicely laid out Gallery section of ebay listings --smart design!

Uomini di Estate

The European men's shows bring out style in droves. I love how Italian men do Summer. The Sartorialist captures some of the highlights. Note, age really is nothing but a number.

While photographer Tommy Ton's sharp eye seeks out the details. See more of his photos for GQ here.

Unhappy Hipsters

Someone's saying what we're thinking. *wink, wink* With all this austere modernism, sometimes it doesn't hurt to make a little fun: Unhappy Hipsters

We just found out our friends at DWR on Fillmore St., are hosting a screening of Charles and Ray Eames' films at their Fillmore Studio. Word on the street is popcorn and libations shall be served! A nice to-do for when the blazing sun sets.

San Francisco Art Deco & Modernism show

We exhibited at the SF Art Deco & Modernism show this weekend. Looked at some nice collections, and marveled at the snazzy attendees in vintage dress. The guys put together a great looking booth, and here was the result.

Portrait of a Gentleman painting with a pair of Sonneman lamps, and Italian glass dish, on Danish credenza.
